Inspired by the whimsical adventures of Snoopy and the Red Baron, this handmade card draws from the charming Take to the Sky Suite featured in the latest Stampin’ Up Catalog. If you’re on the lookout for that perfect masculine card, whether it's for a birthday or Father’s Day, you’re in the right place!
The Inspiration Behind the CardThe Take to the Sky Suite instantly captured my imagination with its beautifully sketched planes and innovative “build a plane” die cuts. It’s not just about creating a card; it’s about crafting a story. With this project, I wanted to blend nostalgia and creativity, bringing a piece of classic animation into our modern craft.
Crafting and Sending Your CardCrafted to fit perfectly within a standard medium Stampin Up Envelope, this card holds a surprise both inside and out. The exterior features a meticulously assembled die-cut plane, while the inside boasts a stamped and colored plane using Stampin’ Blends markers—a little secret for the recipient to discover! Do keep in mind that depending on your choice of embellishments or dimensionals, there might be an additional postage fee if you decide to mail this treasure.

I’ll be guiding you through some creative ways to utilize the Stampin' Up Watercolor World stamp along with a versatile word set to craft cards that are not only personal but also strikingly beautiful.
Why This Technique? The beauty of using markers directly on stamps is that it allows for a highly personalized touch to your stamping. This method offers the freedom to blend colors, create gradients, and add unique details that make each card a one-of-a-kind masterpiece. Whether you're a beginner or an experienced crafter, this technique is sure to add a new dimension to your crafting skills.
Choosing the Right Materials: While the original word set I used has retired, the crafting world is always evolving with new products. I recommend substituting it with current options like the Stampin’ Up Unbounded Love or Wonderful Thoughts Stamp Sets. These sets not only blend beautifully with the Watercolor World stamp but also offer flexibility in crafting messages for various occasions.

Perfect for Any Occasion: One of the joys of handmade cards is their adaptability. By simply altering the greeting, these cards can transition smoothly between celebrations—be it a loved one traveling, a friend embarking on a mission trip, studying abroad, or commemorating a special vacation. The basic technique on all 4 of these cards is the same. I've colored on the stamp with the Stampin' Write markers before stamping on the paper.

I have a few other Watercolor World Tutorials. Type Watercolor World into the search box above to get more.

I created the card design in several card fold styles.

The first card is the basic technique. I colored on the stamp with the markers and then stamped on paper.

Add an arrow to a specific location for added fun.

The next card is created the same as the first, however I used the Water Painter after stamping to blend the colors further.

The 3rd card is created the same, I just cut it into a triptych after stamping.

The 4th card was created the same as the first 2 cards, then I sprizted over the the image after stamping.

This is the same card but I created an easel fun fold.
